Contgratulations to Dr. Pippin and PCRM for closing down yet ANOTHER live animal lab! Awesome job!"PCRM Senior Medical and Research Adviser Dr. John Pippin" <rmerkley wrote: Dear Mrs. Morgan, I wanted you to be among the first to know that we have a new victory to announce in our fight to end live animal labs in medical schools. We recently confirmed that the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University (ECU) will eliminate the use of live animals from its medical student curriculum effective July 1, 2008. Specifically, Brody had been using live pigs for its student surgery rotation. and will leave North Carolina’s medical schools entirely animal lab-free, with Duke University acknowledging the end of its live animal use just last year. Your personal commitment to this cause DOES make a difference. Our campaigns, customized to the situation at each medical school, are bearing fruit. We wouldn’t have been able to do it without the signed petitions, e-mails, phone calls, attendance at demonstrations, and the financial support of compassionate people like you. We began this year with 10 medical schools with live animal labs in their curricula, and now we have reached single digits and are striving to get that number down to zero. And we will one day, with your continued help. We won’t give up. Please continue to back PCRM’s efforts on behalf of helpless animals. Please click here to download our

Wanted Poster, which lists the remaining schools with live animal labs and, on the back, ways to contact them and send an e-mail to any (or all) of them and ask them to end this horrible practice. You can also make a donation to help fund our important work. Please join me in taking a moment to bask in this success, and then, like me, roll up your sleeves and get working toward our next victory.
