Guest guest
New York City Council, the "Pets in Housing" bill, Intro. 13. This bill insidiously supports puppy mills and the pet store trade. As a general rule, animals are not adopted through city’s shelters and humane societies but people purchase them in stores such as Petland, Petsmart, etc. which buy their stock from puppy mills. An increase in pet sales means more animals in shelters that will hurt the city by causing an increase in the high rate of euthanasia in our animal shelters. By supporting Intro. 13 you are partnering with stores such as Petland, Petco and Petsmart, etc and puppy mills. The following members of the New York City Council have not signed on in support of Intro. 13. Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. Maria Baez Charles Barron Leroy G. Comrie, Jr. Bill de Blasio Inez E. Dickens Erik Martin Dilan Simcha Felder Lewis A. Fidler Dennis P. Gallagher James Gennaro Vincent Ignizio Melinda R. Katz James S. Oddo Christine Quinn Joel Rivera Helen Sears Peter Vallone, Jr. Albert Vann Thomas White, Jr. If your councilmember is on this list, please send a letter thanking him or her for not supporting puppy mills and the pet industry. With the number of companion pets reduced, people can devote their time to other animal endeavors such as animals in entertainment, factory farming, foie gras, carriage horses, etc. If you support animal rights, you will not support Intro 13. http://pets.Fortheanimals7/join
