~ PLEASE CROSSPOST WIDELY ~THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE OUTRAGE!5 Makah members who illegally tortured and murdered a gentle gray whale back in Sept.of last year have seen NO JAIL TIME as of yet, [ it's looking less likely that they will] and appear to be gearing up for ANOTHER KILLING SPREE in less than 24 months!! www.seattlepi.nwsource.com/local/347208_makah14.htmlMeanwhile, the U.S. Attorney prosecuting the case, is considering DROPPING a clause in the current plea agreement that would forfeit their right to whale.PLEASE EMAIL Attorney Jeffrey Sullivan, TODAY, and demand justice by asking for the permanent revocation of Makah

whaling rights.U.S. Attorney Jeffrey SullivanPhone: 206 553-7970Fax: 206 553-0882Email: USAWAW.PublicComment Here are some helpful talking points:-The Makah Tribe used undue political influence to have the Gray whale removed/delisted from Endangered Species protection in the first place.-Scientists currently state that the Gray whale is in trouble; their numbers are dropping and many have been observed to be emaciated and underweight.- The Makah's cousins, members of the Maa-nulth First Nations, who reside on the Western shores of Vancouver Island have signed an agreement with the Canadian government in which THEY WILL HONOR A 25 YEAR MORATORIUM OF THEIR WHALING RIGHTS. In return, they were given generous concessions of land and cash. - The

Makah should NOT BE REWARDED for breaking the law! "Sandra Abels" <grwhales Wed, 26 Mar 2008 20:57:14 -0400 FW: Makah whaling public comments - urgent - respond by Thursday! Hi Everyone,Some of you may be aware of the Makah plea deal that was expected to take place yesterday in response to the gray whale they illegally killed in September. Here is the latest news as I understand it. The plea bargain would have meant that the 5 Makah men would have served no jail time. However the U.S. attorney Jeffrey Sullivan added in a clause for a future whaling ban, which would have been perfect, but the Makah refused to accept this and would not enter the bargain. They are supposed to re-convene this Thursday, in 2 days, and Sullivan is considering dropping the whaling ban clause in order to reach an

agreement with the men. I want to ask you to PLEASE take a few minutes to contact the U.S. attorney and urge him to stand firm and keep the whaling ban clause in the plea bargain. The clause, if agreed upon, can stop this travesty once and for all, but we only have until Thursday to make ourselves heard. Thanks,CindyHere is the contact info:U.S. Attorney Jeffrey SullivanPhone: 206 553-7970Fax: 206 553-0882Email: USAWAW.PublicComment The concept of 'animal rights' values the simple premise that ALL living creatures have a "right" to be allowed to live their lives without victimization--free from brutality. It is a right that EVERY being strives for.~Brennan Browne~"Humanely" slaughtered 'meat', is an obscene lie invented and perpetuated by people who are too lazy, selfish and cruel to change their dietary habits. Forcibly denying a creature its right to life, love and companionship can NEVER be humane.~Brennan Browne~
