Hi Everyone,Some of you may be aware of the Makah plea deal that was expected to take place yesterday in response to the gray whale they illegally killed in September. Here is the latest news as I understand it. The plea bargain would have meant that the 5 Makah men would have served no jail time. However the U.S. attorney Jeffrey Sullivan added in a clause for a future whaling ban, which would have been perfect, but the Makah refused to accept this and would not enter the bargain. They are supposed to re-convene this Thursday, in 2 days, and Sullivan is considering dropping the whaling ban clause in order to reach an

agreement with the men. I want to ask you to PLEASE take a few minutes to contact the U.S. attorney and urge him to stand firm and keep the whaling ban clause in the plea bargain.
