PLEASE FORWARD AND CROSSPOST THIS WONDERFUL, HAPPY NEWS!! Zelda <zpenzelSun, 24 Feb 2008 01:13:25 -0500 Good news update....this is what happens when people pull together.... NJ - Update and pics - RE: VERY OLD WHITE SHEPHERD ON A CHAIN NEEDS HELP!! Michelle van Raalte mikavr (at msn.com) Fri, 22 Feb 2008 10:03 pmUpdate and pics - RE: VERY OLD WHITE SHEPHERD ON A CHAIN NEEDS HELP!!Thanks to everyone who responded. I KNEW the rescue world would step up to the plate. Missy is officially off her chain, thanks to the kind woman who first noticed her, and is warm tonight (which is great because I hear there is a lot of snow in NJ today). There was a large response of people willing to help in various ways, from offering to bring blankets to her doghouse (aww.... that is so sweet) , to transport, and most important: to adopt. MaryLee will be interviewing the potential adopter(s), and figuring things out from

there. Thank you guys so much. I though you might like to see a pic of her and an update. I find it's so rare to get any follow up on all these hundreds of emails, and when it looks like it could be a happy ending, it's nice to share and uplift everyone who had a part in forwarding the email or offering other help. She looks very sweet, doesn't she? 8:52 pmRE: Anyone know any NJ dog lovers? - OLD WHITE SHEPHERD ON A CHAIN NEEDS HELP!! AWESOME! YOU ROCK!!!! Give her a big hug from me. Is she good with your others or are you keeping her separately? She must think she's died and gone to heaven to be with you.I'd love to see her, take a pic if you can. Great news about the two possible homes. Are you leaning towards one or another? I love the rescue world. I knew they would step up. Once you decide, and it's all settled, I will email back everyone and let them know, unless you would like to (and include a pic ;-) It's always great to get the follow up and so seldom

happens. I'm just so glad to know that ONE dog is no longer outside on a chain, all alone, freezing cold. Are you familiar with the Dogs Deserve Better org? If not, you may want to check them out and send in your story about Missy. They may put her in a calendar, you never know ! Ok, thanks for writing back. Go give her a treat and a hug (I'm doing a little dance) Mika mikavrSubject: Re: Anyone know any NJ dog lovers? - OLD WHITE SHEPHERD ON A CHAIN NEEDS HELP!!Fri, 22 Feb 2008 20:46:07 -0500girllovesdirt (AT) aol (DOT) comMika, thanks again for caring....i did go and get her. she is at my house, safe and warm and fed. ive been so upset because she is so sweet and wants attention...and to think all those years that she was alone is killing me. but shes ok now. i now have 2 possible homes for her thank God~!tomorrow I will take her for grooming, as she is completely filthy poor thing. Hey there,Mika here. Did you go and pick up Missy today? How cold is it there at night? Do you think she will survive the night? They need a LOT of calories and WATER to be able to withstand the cold without freezing to death.... do you know if she has enough, or can you call the neighbor and beg her to bring some out? The water she may have had could have frozen solid. Jeez, look at all my worries.I would love to hear she

was at your house, warm. 16 years old..... that is too old to be so cold! Pls write back! Thanks,Mika katie.walter (AT) comcast (DOT) netTo: mikavrSubject: RE: Anyone know any NJ dog lovers? - OLD WHITE SHEPHERD ON A CHAIN NEEDS HELP!!Thu, 21 Feb 2008 21:21:25 -0500 - Katie Walter HERDING DOG RESCUE ; Herbert Landau ; furbabies_need_luv ; SeniorDogRescue ; RescueSeniorDogs ; Bobbie ; Big-Dogs ; Deb Donley ; SaSNDR ; OldDogsRescue ; NJShelterPets Cc: kmelvin (AT) sarnoff (DOT) com Thursday, February 21, 2008 9:20 PM Anyone know any NJ dog lovers? - OLD WHITE SHEPHERD ON A CHAIN NEEDS HELP!! * If you have contacts, please forward this email, and give the contact as: kmelvin (AT) sarnoff (DOT) com (at sarnoff.com). Michelle van Raalte mikavr (@msn.com) Thursday, February 21, 2008 8:54 PM Anyone know any NJ dog lovers? Anyone have any contacts in NJ who would be able to rescue an old dog off a chain? Let the poor thing live out the rest of it's years inside, loved? Experience a hug? Fresh food and water? My cousin sent me the email following. I don’t really know anyone into rescue in NJ since I started rescue when I moved here (NC). I know of SAVE, but you don’t want this old dog to go to a shelter environment. It might be warmer, but for a dog used to being isolated, it would probably be way too much stimulation. If you can't adopt

this dog, please just forward the email and hopefully someone will open their hearts. SOMEONE’s gotta be looking for a dog right about now!! This is pitiful. So sad. L Thanks guys. I bet working together we can figure it out. But I need some help! * If you have contacts, please forward this email, and give the contact as: kmelvin (AT) sarnoff (DOT) com (at sarnoff.com). Wed, 20 Feb 2008 17:26:48 -0500 girllovesdirt (AT) aol (DOT) com rentyler (AT) hotmail (DOT) com, nturner (AT) sarnoff (DOT) com I was at a jobsite today, and found that there was a dog living in a small doghouse. I didnt even see her at first, until she peeked out shyly. She is a very old (16 years old) dog who has lived her life outside tied with a chain to her doghouse. She is so skinny (though she eats, it happens when they get older). and just the most pathetic thing i have seen in a long time. She has little to no human contact except when the neighbor feeds her. The man whose house it is at, has been in the hospital, and was thinking of putting her

down cause he can't take care of her anymore. The nextdoor neighbors say she warms up to people quickly, and gets very excited when she is brought indoors when it is too cold out. Her name is Missy, and she is a White Shepherd. I just can' stand the thought of this dog, now that ive seen her, living what little bit of time she has like this. At least perhaps she can have some joy at the end of her life............can anyone help?

Is anyone willing to put out the effort to deal with an old dog? It may require some effort, but I think its worth it to help her have some happiness. I have a house full as you all know, and I'm not sure she can do all the stairs in my house... I have a split level. Any suggestions? can anyone take her? Patricia Breen www.petstorecruelty.org
