America, Meet the Lieberman-Warner Climate Security Act Wednesday was another big day in Congress, as the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee voted to send the historic Lieberman-Warner Climate Security Act to the Senate floor. Not only would this bill be the biggest step ever taken to reduce the pollution that causes global warming, it also sets aside roughly $175 billion for wildlife conservation through 2030--all through the auction of pollution permits. This is an unprecedented commitment to the conservation of our natural heritage for future generations. We'll be tracking this bill closely in the coming months so stay tuned! Find out how the Climate Security Act helps wildlife: http://online.nwf.org/climatesecurityact Help Protect Black Bears in the Mississippi Delta! Of all the projects on the Army Corps of Engineers to-do list, the Yazoo Backwater Pumps project is among the most expensive and environmentally destructive in modern history. A recent study showed how the project will severely drain and damage wetlands that are home to ducks, geese and the threatened Louisiana black bear. FACT: If built, the pumps would suck 6 million gallons of water a minute out of the Mississippi Delta, dump the water into the Yazoo River, and devastate 200,000 acres of life-sustaining wetlands--an area the size of New York City. Speak up for black bears and help " Dump the Pumps! " http://online.nwf.org/dumpthepumps
