Permission to Crosspost--widely!~THERE IS A WAY TO END WHALING ~ Dear Friends & Activists: Christmas symbolizes kindness, generosity and evokes images of peace on Earth...but for whales in the Southern Ocean, it will be spent amid screams of torment; enduring agonizingly slow deaths, as Japanese criminals using exploding harpoons, spill their blood by the thousands of gallons. YOU CAN STOP THESE ATROCITIES Just what WILL finally bring an end to Japan's relentless slaughter of whales? Obviously, the LAW means nothing to whalers. They continue to show contemptuous disregard for the International Whaling Commission's moratorium. DIPLOMACY means nothing. Governments, environmental organizations, and the general public have pleaded with and even sued Japanese officials on behalf of our whales--to no avail. Ethics and morality mean nothing. The Japanese pro-whaling faction has proven they will DO or SAY whatever it takes to reach their goal of bloodlust. If that means amassing wealth illegally, by profiting from the sale of whale meat--so be it. If it means poisoning their OWN CHILDREN with mercury-laden cetacean products--so be it. If it involves PIRACY and the PLUNDERING

of the Antarctic Whale Sanctuary, so be it. If it entails targeting and wiping out ENDANGERED SPECIES [including Humpbacks and hundreds of pregnant females], so be it. If it requires BUYING VOTES [from non-whaling countries] through economic BRIBERY [of those same countries, to tip the balance of power within the IWC for the resumption of LEGAL whaling] SO BE IT! What DOES matter to these thugs? Not tradition, as many people assume, but that age-old lust--MONEY! ! Greenpeace recently proved that whaling can be STOPPED--and rather quickly; when they targeted one of 3 companies which make up the CORE of Japan's whaling industry--Nissui. The Japanese companies known as Nissui, Maruha and Kyokuyo, have killed OVER 1/2 million whales since WWII. Together, they own several hundred fishing operations, worldwide. Greenpeace recognized that a Western-based, consumer SEAFOOD BOYCOTT of these companies would be monumentally effective in ending Japanese whaling, because Maruha, Nissui & Kyokuyo own extremely LARGE market shares within North America's seafood industry. The life's "blood" of these whaling companies is comprised of their global FISHING enterprises! This connection to Western consumers, is the one CRITICAL WEAKNESS which CAN and MUST be successfully exploited to bring down whaling! [seafood boycotts have the same potential to end whaling in Norway and Iceland as well, since seafood exports are crucial to their

economies.] Disturbingly, Greenpeace did NOT take their boycott campaign to its logical conclusion by using unrelenting economic pressure to demand an end to whaling. Instead, after briefly targeting Gorton's [Nissui] for boycott--a campaign which showed incredible promise and made amazing strides early on--Greenpeace mysteriously walked away after winning one small concession. Nissui and its whaling partners Maruha and Kyokuyo, were intimidated enough, to notify Greenpeace that they would be divesting their whaling stock in the company they owned, jointly. In June of 2006, those stocks were 'donated' to the Japanese government. Unfortunately, the shares were simply transfered to the "Institute of Cetacean Research"; the

official front organization for, and driving force behind whaling in Japan. Maruha, Nissui and Kyokuyo, while publicly distancing themselves from whaling, privately continue to fight hard to keep the bloody business of whaling alive. They have used BLATANT LIES, SECRECY and SPIN-DOCTORING to dupe environmental organizations, animal rights activists and the general public into believing they no longer have any connection to this mass speciescide. THE TRUTH NISSUI, MARUHA & KYOKUYO DON'T WANT YOU TO KNOW: 1) The Chief Executive Officers for each of these companies continue to sit on the Japanese Fisheries board. An organization which is not only extremely influential within the highest echelons of Japanese government, but one which has a completely PRO-WHALING agenda. The Japanese

Fisheries Agency wields power, worldwide. 2) Maruha, Nissui and Kyokuyo continue to cast their votes IN FAVOR of reinstating commercial whaling at each IWC meeting. 3) Kyokuyo continues to build and sell WHALING SHIPS [with no plans to phase out this lucrative part of its business.] They also process, package, distribute and sell WHALE MEAT, throughout Japan. NOTE: Kyokuyo claims they are phasing out the sale of whale meat as soon as their supply is gone. The truth is that the supply of whale meat will be infinite, until whaling is FORCIBLY ended, or whales are completely wiped from the planet! THE MOST LOGICAL WAY TO END WHALING IS TO STRIKE AT THE HEART OF THE WHALE-KILLERS! BOYCOTT ALL SEAFOOD This decision is vital to marine mammals--globally! Every whaler, sealer and dolphin killer around the world, makes their living from the sale of SEAFOOD! NOTIFY THE KILLERS It is CRITICAL to email Maruha, Nissui & Kyokuyo! Remember they ARE the Japanese whaling industry!! Let them know you will not be contributing to their wealth, or to the torture and destruction of whales and other marine mammals by consuming seafood! This tactic WORKS!
