Coastal Alliance for Aquaculture Reform

 

Honour Wild Pacific Salmon, haunt Safeway with the impact of their farmed

salmon sales.

 

It is that spooky time of year again. No, not Halloween, the Global Week of

Action - Farmed Salmon Exposed.

 

The Coastal Alliance for Aquaculture Reform is joinging with our allies

around the world once again to raise awareness of the ongoing impacts of

open net-cage salmon farms. We are honouring the wild salmon, marine mammals

and other ocean life that have been sacrificed for the operation of

industrial salmon farms with Day of the Dead events at Safeway stores in

Vancouer, Victoria and Winnipeg.

 

We also have something up our sleeve for the San Francisco area next week -

stay tuned!

 

If you can't make the on-site events you can still get involved.

 

Safeway has not taken any steps to reduce their sales of destructive open

net-cage farmed salmon. And they have failed to encourage their suppliers to

begin adopting closed containment systems that can deliver a more

sustainable product.

 

You can honour the dead by faxing Safeway to ask their CEO and VP of Public

Affairs to stop profiting from destructive open net-cage salmon farming and

start supporting closed containment.
