Hi Martha,

A number of things come to mind. I don't think that there is too much special

(not that way anyhow ;) with me or my soil. The Wikipedia article I linked to

before does mention " oxalates " on the surface of the leaves and recommends

blanching to remove them before eating the leaves. I have eaten so much of the

stuff by this time, that I don't particularly mind and can eat some of the raw

leaves now. But I certainly did notice the taste the first time I tried 'em.

I don't recall it having a metallic taste at all. Could it be something in your

soil that makes it taste that way to you? Or maybe you're a " taster. " I know

that I am not.
