Guest guest
Hi, Susan and everyone! Dear Hubby is being a pretty good sport about my cooking only vegan dishes for him of late, with the grumbling about no cheese, etc., held to a minimum. (Probably has something to do with the articles I e-mail him regularly about the impact of saturated fat on health! ;-) Unfortunately, he doesn't much like eating beans, except for Black Bean Chili. So I thought I would try to come up with a good vegan Black Bean Burger, and am even going to try to make my own whole grain burger buns, using those " muffin top " pans I've seen on Amazon. While perusing the " hamburger " presses there, so that I could make perfectly round patties for the black bean burgers, I thought to go check out Susan V's amazing site (love the re-do, Susan! :-) and see if there was a tip there about forming the patties. To my surprise, it sounds as if maybe the burger press wouldn't work that well for a non-hamburger patty? Susan writes in this recipe: http://blog.fatfreevegan.com/2006/01/hash-browns-and-black-bean-burgers.html " Spoon the bean mixture into the hot skillet, forming patties. It's best to do this by dropping spoonfuls into the skillet and using the back of the spoon to shape; they don't do well if you try to form them into patties beforehand. " So, before I place an order for a press, maybe I should first find out if it would even work that well for making perfectly round black bean burgers! It would be great if it did, and I could have a bunch ready in the freezer whenever I wanted to make vegan burgers! Thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks in advance! :-)
