Guest guest
is anybody else following esselstyn's no fat lifestyle besides myself, mark and slim? if so, i have some questions for you about sweets. i have been avoiding sweets except for some no fat teriyaki sauce i starting eating a few days ago. i am the only one in my home that eats a fat free vegan diet. making it thru the holidays should not be a problem, but food will just be my everyday food and no holiday food for me. wondering how others like me make it thru the holidays on a strictly fat free vegan diet. do you eat anything different or just the same foods? maureen
Guest guest
Hi Maureen Usually, I lay off the sweets, using all fruit jam on my toast, and fruits for sweetening cereal and smoothies. Celebration and food are tied inextricably, while omitting fats, butters, eggs , I allow some small indulgences, and try to keep a variety of healthy foods on hand. Dried fruits, and nuts make nice occasional treats in small amounts. We keep a bowl of nuts in the shell, which takes time. During an hour's conversation, I might go through 6 walnuts or hickories. This year I volunteered to bring an antipasto plate and a big green salad to Mom's, and will probably stuff a squash with pilaf . Eat slow, savor the food, and the company and conversation more. Merry Christmas! left coast carol maureen smith wrote: > > > is anybody else following esselstyn's no fat lifestyle besides myself, > mark and slim? if so, i have some questions for you about sweets. i > have been avoiding sweets except for some no fat teriyaki sauce i > starting eating a few days ago. i am the only one in my home that eats > a fat free vegan diet. making it thru the holidays should not be a > problem, but food will just be my everyday food and no holiday food for > me. wondering how others like me make it thru the holidays on a > strictly fat free vegan diet. do you eat anything different or just the > same foods? > > maureen > >
Guest guest
Hi Maureen First off, congrats on the commitment to your health thru nutrition. Low fat, whole food, plant-based is the way for me as well. I love it. Dont feel Im missing out on anything. In fact, I am eating a greater variety of foods than ever before and I enjoy cooking and trying new things. So for the holiday there are a few great places to look for traditional (veganized) and new Holiday foods. If you go to Susans blog, there is an entire holiday section. (Though I must admit Im not sure what the difference is between Susans two sites, the one below and the blog we also follow? Susan, help? http://www.fatfreevegan.com/holiday/index.shtml Also try this http://www.bryannaclarkgrogan.com/page/page/1553047.htm And a great low fat holiday vegan cookbook by Bryanna is at http://www.amazon.com/Almost-No-Fat-Holiday-Cookbook-Vegetarian/dp/1570670099/re\ f=pd_bxgy_b_img_b Best wishes, Tom Dont limit foods... ADD foods!!!!
Guest guest
Hi Maureen, I made a nice seasonal fruit salad using chopped fresh cranberries, apples, oranges. Yummy. I am also enjoying the Cuties and other sweet tangerines that are available right now. Teresa M.
