Certainly different from Dr McDougalls recommendations, but

interesting to read from another well respected MD in the field of

clinical nutrition.

At least Esselstyn and Ornish have independently reversed heart

disease. I think that gives them a bit more credibility than an

article claiming so many scientific studies supporting his advice and

not providing even ONE of them. It's a helluva list and there'

nothing provided to support it at all.

Furthermore, I do believe McDougall on the issue of carbs, and

not Fuhrman. You can learn more about that in this short part of

a panel discussion they had:

Also, Essy was very clear that the issue is total grams of fat,

although he did recommend no avocadoes or nuts for those who already

have heart disease.

Me? I'll go with the 20 years of peer-reviewed research by

two independent researchers, and of the three people mentioned,

particularly the guy who doesn't sell processed food products

(Esselstyn).

Finally, I firmly believe that a modest use of nuts and/or

avocadoes is okay, and I'd rather keep my total daily fat consumption

in line with Essy/Ornish: 14 to 24 grams of fat.

FYI, Mark
