Guest guest
Well, was hoping there wouldn't be a lot of OT traffic on the copyright recipe issue, but apparently there was (didn't read it, 'cept for Sue's Guidelines). Those who understood and interacted with me in private e-mail have my appreciation. It's been interesting. Still a tough issue. Regular book authors are still debating (a lot of this is at http://www.boingboing.net) releasing free electronic copies of their stories or novels, while at the same time publishing in paper. The case from the authors there lean heavy towards this actually stimulating sales, despite it seeming to be counter-intuitive. Also, the " younger generation " that has grown up with the Internet has gotten used to getting stuff for free online, in general, and it's also an issue for a lot of news organizations. What's fair use? Will be interesting to see how this all shakes out. Anyway, I think Sue's Guidelines are excellent (and wish some of the larger, unhinged, veg recipe swap Lists would do the same). Formerly on one of those lists, I realized a r who was searching the net every day and posting a recipe every day, didn't know that many were from existing cookbooks. Tough times for the professional cookbook author. Regardless, I do hope Sue's post ends discussion. As Fall approaches I suspect we'll see more ideas and cooking going on, and that's, ahem, cool.
