Guest guest
To each his/her own. No offense if to some it's worth the purchase, but personally, I think the concept is somewhat silly, quite expensive, and a tribute to P.T. Barnum's off-quoted maxim. Reminds me of some of the stuff hawked on very late night infomercials, only this seems like more overkill. It's really a no brainer. I wrap a couple of paper towels around some slices of tofu, sometimes a dish towel, too, put a cutting board over it all, and put weight on top. Wait 20-30 minutes. For weight's I've used a pot of water, a food processor, a sealed 1 gallon jug of water (or two for balance if I've four slices), whatever's available. I can think of many other ways to press tofu, but the above is the easiest. $30 to $40 for a Tofu Presser? $12 shipping? Nahhh... ....anyway, maybe I need to design an automatic battery-powered nutritional yeast dispenser... " Nutrisprinkle! " to save people time in measuring the amount of yeast dispensed (it'll have buttons for teaspoon, tablespoon, 1/4 cup, etc.... might make a nice companion to 'TofuExpress.'). Figure I'll charge around $20. FYI, Mark http://www.soulveggie.com

Guest guest
Something in the way you worded this just gave me a new idea for how I could press my tofu... I have a tiered pot with a steamer with tiny holes that nests on top. It has a flat bottom & a lid. If I press it in this....no water on my counter and not as many wet towels. Also since it is sealed, I can put it back in my fridge and leave it for an afternoon. This probably wasn't your intent....but thanks for the inspiration!-Erin emusedmary <emusedmary Sent: Tuesday, September 1, 2009 10:54:13 PM Re: OT: TofuExpress I agree I have been pressing the water out into a pasta pan colander thing with my weights on top of it & it has worked out great for a couple of decades waht will theythink of next~but yes if it makes someone happy I am for it :-) Em , Mark Sutton <msutton > wrote: > > To each his/her own.
