You're welcome Kathleen, Monique and Debbie! ;

I hope I haven't just made a big mess in everyone's kitchen. On the homemade

yogurt group both Marty and now Dan report some success with the LOM veggie

yogurt recipe. Dan says that it works with Chana Dahl as well as the lentils and

split peas I've used as well as with a number different cultures, I haven't

tried.

Monique, I've only made the lentil milk by hand twice and I thought is was

difficult to strain. It seemed more thick to me than the soymilk. At the same

time the okara needs to be fairly well filtered out, or else I got a pulpy

" applesauce " texture that did not set, rather than the nice pudding I usually

get. I wasn't able to find a really good way to make it. I just needed a gentle

touch in wringing out the filter cloth, hard enough to get out the liquid but

not so hard that the okara (bean pulp) came out with it. You want to filter out

almost as much okara in volume as you had in soaked beans to start with.

I wish everybody good luck. Now I think I'll be quiet for a while. I've been

writing a lot for me. I'm kind of a lonely old coot. And I'm not used to this

much attention! ;)

I found that it is complete information and I will try it. I don't have a

machine and now I know that I can make the milk without it.

Thank you so much for posting the Lentil-Oat Milk recipe. I can't wait to try

it out. It's nice to know my rice cooker can be used for much more than rice.

I will definitely check out Beth's book. It's time for some different " good

eats " in my house. I'm not much of a cook, but I think I can handle these

one-pot recipes okay.
