One of the major issues I have, as a mdical practitioner, with cholesterol numbers indicating cardiac well-being is that cholesterol and saturated fats are two very different, but related, things. With the introduction of hyperlipidemia medications, cholesterol pills, many patients are told or assume that they can just go ahead and eat anything.Well, the truth is that fat blocks arteries (and veins and capillaries).Another truth is that very often, the damages done to the circulatory system by lifestyle, diet and a genetic hand PRIOR to medical intervention or lifestyle and diet changes just cannot be remedied.Other factors can play a part in cardiac wellness, as well - C Reactive Proteins, kidney functions, blood sugar levels and genetic predispostion. Our human bodies are complicated and intricate and although early preventative care is

absolutely vital to long term well-being, there is a big picture. My suggestion - we do our best to get moving, that is - exercise daily, eat well, share our time with supportive communities, laugh, meditate and know we are doing what we can to live a fulfilling life.In my career as a practitioner and in doing hospice work, I have come to realize that sometimes, as unexpected as it may be, people just die. Sometimes, it seems, it's just time.ShenPlease consider the environment before printing this e-mail.

Shen, can you tell me how big a part genetics play in high cholesterol?

I have done all I can to lower mine and it won't go down. Dr said it may be genetics and wants to but me on drugs, I keep saying NO I want to bring it down on my own, I don't want to take drugs if there is something I can do about it. I never knew my parents so I have no idea what their health was.
