Guest guest
>I'm having a devil of a time with dried beans in crockpot recipes. I soak them overnight and follow the recipe, but the beans aren't cooked through. I wonder if my crock is going...Perish the thought!! Although, they do sell them in Holland now, not like when I got it from my mother as a Christmas present back in 2002. JanelJanel, I used to have trouble cooking beans in a crockpot years ago. I think I just wasn't cooking them long enough nor using enough water. I cook dry beans in the crockpot all the time now and they turn out nice and tender every time. Here's how I fix my beans now:I soak the beans overnight, and rinse in the morning. Then cook them on high for about 5-6 hrs. How much water are you putting in there with the beans? I'd say I use about two inches of water above the bean level. To know the mimimum time to cook them, I make sure that I see the water at boiling point around the edge of the crockpot for at least an hour. They are always nice and tender. Hope this helps you.Martha
