Buy what you like the best and/or what is most economical for you. Soy

sauce is fermented and Bragg liquid aminos isn't, so there's a slightly

different taste (Bragg's flavor is somewhat less robust in my opinion,

which is not necessarily a bad thing, sometimes a lighter touch is

called for). Also, check the ingredients on the soy sauce to make sure

it doesn't contain things you don't want in your soy sauce (artificial

coloring, sugar, etc) if you care about that. Bragg's has only

soybeans and water.

Bragg's is lower in sodium than "full strength" soy sauce (but still a

high-sodium product), but similar to low-sodium versions of soy sauce.

A poster on the veggieboards did the research and math for us:

Converting Measurements:

http://www.ehow.com/how_4208_convert...surements.html

3 tsps = 1 Tbsp

Generic listing for soy sauce ( tamari ) from the USDA:

http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcom...st_nut_edit.pl

1 Tbsp 1005 mg

SanJ soy sause sodium content per 1 Tbsp:

http://www.san-j.com/pages/nutritn1.htm

- premium tamari : 960 mg

- reduced sodium tamari 700 mg

- shoyu 960 mg

Bragg's Liquid Aminos

http://www.bragg.com/products/liquidaminos.html

- per 1/2 teaspoon 110 mg

- per 1 tablespoon ( 110 x 6 ) 660 mg

I tend to use reduced-sodium soy sauce in recipes that I think of as

more "Asian" in nature and Bragg's in other recipes where I think it

would just add some light flavor.

(Plus, as far as I know Bragg's doesn't have a mascot like Kikkoman (link

to youtube video (there is some subtitled profanity (I don't know

Japanese, so I can't tell you want the soundtrack says) and it is a bit

violent (animated), but not graphic).

I need to

better understand soy sauce before I go shopping. I've always

used Kikkoman based on a Chinese friend's recommendation. Lately though

I'm seeing recipes call for soy sauce or braggs. What is the

difference? I

also need to watch salt intake so is that different in the different

kinds?
