I mix it in water and whisk it in (it does not mix in easily). It is barley grass powder, and it causes a VERY RAPID change in my state -- its kind of like eating and waiting 20 minutes would be, but in a minute or two. At least for me. I'm no longer desperately hungry, and I can then go on and prepare food. I mostly do this in the morning -- I have not tried it for nighttime sugar cravings.
