You would probably want to opt for some sort of flatbread-one that doesn't use yeast. You really do need to have some sort of sugar or sweetener to make the yeast happy and create a nice loaf of bread. Without some kind of leavening, bread won't rise right and you will end up with a really dense brick.--- On Wed, 9/10/08, Shelley <moondrop000 wrote:Shelley <moondrop000Re: Digest Number 2069 , "No Reply" <notify-dg- >Wednesday, September 10, 2008, 12:15 PM

It is hard for me to find good healthy vegan bread in the stores. Can anyone name any? No matter what I find there seems to be added sugar, etc. I don't want any sugar either. Ideas? I spend half my time at the store reading labels. Any other whole grain-type breads or crackers, or?

Odd Question

Hi All,I have a question if anyone can help. I have been vegan for a while (but NOT fat free). I need to lose a bit of weight, about 25 pounds. I like to have an alcohol beverage (or a few, lol) a couple nights a week (mostly beer). Anyway, my question is this... does anyone else here ever drink alcohol, and also do you think I can still lose weight drinking beer if I change my diet to FAT FREE vegan? I know beer have calories but maybe if I switch to NO FAT that would help. Any thoughts on this???Thanks All,Nikita"All the arguments to prove man's superiority cannot shatter this hard fact: In suffering, the animals are our equals". ~Peter Singer~

Hi NikitaI think that a couple of beers a couple times a week would do no harm. Certainly a fat free vegan diet would help, and you might want to keep track of your calorie intake those days- consider the alchohol to be "empty calories" and eat very healthy those days.I've been steadily loosing about 5 pounds a month since the beginning of the year going back to fat free, and walking about 3 miles or so a day.Good luck!lc carolnikita4animals@ wrote:>> Hi All,>> I have a question if anyone can help.
