Guest guest Posted August 4, 2008 Report Share Posted August 4, 2008 Cowboy Steaks Type: Main Dish Serves: 6 Time to Prepare: 30 minutes + 1-3 days to marinate Ingredients Marinade ¼ cup of fresh lemon juice ¼ cup of water 2 tbsp. of tomato paste 1 ½ tsp. of natural hickory seasoning liquid smoke ¾ tsp. of soy sauce ½ tsp. of salt Dash of Tabasco Sauce Steaks 2 pounds of extra firm tofu cut into six 1-inch thick slabs Instructions To make the marinade, combine the lemon juice, water, canola oil, tomato paste, liquid smoke, soy sauce, salt, and Tabasco Sauce in a 7 x 9-inch baking dish and stir well to distribute the seasonings evenly. Place the tofu steaks into the marinade and turn to coat them on both sides. Cover the baking dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight or for up to 3 days, turning once or twice each day. Wrap the tofu steaks in foil with extra marinade and place the them into a grill basket or directly on the grill and grill over hot coals 4 to 7 minutes on each side. I took the canola oil out of the ingredient list and made the appropriate adjustments but forgot to take it out of the first part of the instructions. Sorry.
