Guest guest
Reportedly fish was pushed on Fridays by the Pope to support the navy of the Papal States (now part of Italy). They had to keep the boats busy during times of peace, so they might as well be fishing. The restriction to eat fish rather than meat was rescinded by the Vatican II council in the early 1960s. Be that as it may, I thought that the writer who started this thread was saying what she said in jest (kind of " pulling our legs " ), rather than asking a serious question. And by the responses she got, it was like she kicked an ant hill! I hope we can soon return to our regularly scheduled program of fabulous fat-free vegan recipies:) Chayah , " Sparrow R Jones " <sparrowrose wrote: > > On 7/23/08, siderea <siderea wrote: > > > > Ah Sparrow, that once a week sounds like Fridays of my childhood. > > I didn't write that. Guest guest
I don't know if it was a serious question, but it did result in a very interesting discussion, and that's what I was trying to say in my own humorous way. On other lists, we sometimes get someone coming through and asking something outrageous just to get things stirred up, and it kind of reminded me of that. On the other hand, it may well have been serious, as there is so much misinformation about vegetarianism. As for apologies, you contribute so much and help so many people on this list that you should never apologize for anything:) Chayah , " Sparrow R Jones " <sparrowrose wrote: > > On 7/23/08, bigoldog <bigoldog wrote: > > > > Be that as it may, I thought that the writer who started this thread > > was saying what she said in jest (kind of " pulling our legs " ), rather > > than asking a serious question.
