Nontraditional Chana-dal Curry

by no means traditional. I don't even know if they have tomatillos or

groundcherries in India. Invented out-of-the-fridge tonight...

Dry saute (with no added oil) over medium high heat :

2 whole sliced onions

1 red bell pepper, sliced

2 cups bby carrots or sliced carrots.

1T of your favorite garam masala or curry powder

2 cloves garlic, mashed.

Add little water and deglaze on medium heat several times.

Pour in 1/2 cup water or broth to simmer,

add

6-8 sliced tomatillos,

4 finely chopped fresh plums

2 fork-mashed bananas

2T soy sauce

1.5 cups cooked chana-dal, or garbanzos. rinse salt off if canned..

Stir in, sprinkling a a little at a time,

2-4 T whole wheat flour.

Watch how it thickens, add a little more water to make a nice gravy.

Whole recipe 8 servings, about 1c

Served over brown rice with steamed bok choy. This could easily take

more chana-dal.

Rated WOW! on the DH taste-meter.

enjoy!
