Guest guest
First of all can I say how much I love this group! You have been so much help for me. I'm looking for a tofu recipe...I'm curious to see how much is into making a batch of tofu. My daughter and I eat it like it is going out of style and the price of organic tofu, OUCH! Looking for more ways to save money, but still healthy for our family. Again, TIA
Guest guest
This isn't the exact recipe, but I can tell you the basics. First you make soymilk. (I use my soymilk maker and make two batches.) Then you add a coagulant to the soymilk and let it form curds. Next, you pour the curdled soymilk into a tofu press, which is a box with holes in it that allow the whey to drain off. You put the top on the box and press it for a while to compact the curds and form a block of tofu. It's been a while since I've done it, but believe me, it was the best tofu I've ever tasted. It's sort of a lot of work for one block of tofu, though.
