Guest guest
Hi Michelle Good on you for supporting your daughter's choice - and for the 69 pounds you lost last year! I was slightly overweight when I went from omni to vegan four years ago, and I lost 10kg (approx 20lb, I think) in three months without even trying. All animal products contain a lot of protein and a lot of fat, and that's an overload for our bodies. By choosing plant foods instead, you will almost automatically be eating lower fat and higher fibre. I think most of the weight I lost was because I stopped eating cheese! How old is your daughter? Guest guest
Alice - My daughter is 16 in just a few days. I'm really proud of her, she decided over a year ago to go veggie and she has stuck to it. My 17 year old decided to do it too at the same time, but she goes back and forth a lot...she's veggie, she isn't , she's veggie, she isn't. I think she just likes to say she's a vegetarian because of the attention it gets her, rather for any real reasons. She said she wasn't going to eat anything with a face...and then turned aroud and said shirmp don't really have faces to justify eating them...lol. Cutting out cheese will be the hardest thing for me too. I have cut down on it drastically...usually only a little parm on my salads now, but I agree that I think even just the cutting down has helped a lot!! Alice and All - Thanks for all the support and info I find here!! It is making it easier to help my daughter and making it easier for me to make the decision and transition.
