Guest guest
Hi, Just wanted to add my experience here. I'm 55 years old, and I've been a type 1 diabetic for 44 years. I've been following a low-fat vegan diet for over 14 years. I found Dr. McDougall's plan and I was sold around 14 years ago. (I can't say I've followed it 100%, but my indulgences haven't been frequent.) Since I have type 1 diabetes, I can never go off insulin. What I found astounding was my insulin needs went down by 50% within a week of changing my diet. I never have had high cholesterol, but since being on this diet it has been very low - as low as 110 total, and excellent HDL. I have NO complications - no eye problems, no kidney problems, no circulation problems - nothing! I hope this lasts, but if it doesn't, at least I've delayed the complications. I highly recommend this diet to any diabetic - type 1 or type 2! Linda
