Guest guest
Hey Sparrow, I'm just gettin' caught up reading, and found you're from KY. too. I'm still here, although I've detoured around the country a bit. We're getting ready for the KY Derby here in Louisville. Its a time when real traditional, though not necessarily healthy cookin' reigns. Grits w. cheese and eggs. Country Style ham (I've never had it, even when I wasn't vegetarian.). Country beaten biscuits, and of course Derby pie (chocolate bits in a brown sugar custard filling, flavored with bourbon.). At least the asparagus is also on the menu! And there usually is a Bibb lettuce salad w. dressing, not necessarily FF, but a much better choice than the other fixings'. Where in KY did you come from? Peggy K. Guest guest
Hi, Peggy! You left out Hot Browns, pecan pies, mint julips . . . and the way to tell if someone has lived in Louisville or the surrounds is to ask them if they've ever eaten benedictine. :-) I've found that anyone from farther away than, say, E-town has absolutely no idea what benedictine sandwiches are. I spent my school years in Louisville and my summers in several towns in Floyd county (where the family comes from) staying with grandparents, aunts, great-aunts, etc. Sparrow
Guest guest
I am not from Kentucky, but my mom and older brother are. Mom was born in Lexington. I visit there often Aly
