Guest guest
Wow.. lotta traffic on the list the past few days, a little time to read it all (and soooo many same subject titles...). Two things of note: 1) Study just out of over 88,000 woman regarding low-fat near-vegetarian diet and Cardiovascular Disease: http://www.webmd.com/heart-disease/news/20080414/dash-diet-improves-womens-heart\ -healthDASH " April 14, 2008 -- A healthy diet rich in fruits and vegetables and low in fat has long been touted as heart smart. Now, increasing evidence suggests that a similar diet reduces blood pressure and decreases a woman's risk for heart attack and stroke... " Our study provides, to our knowledge, the strongest evidence to date on the long-term benefits of the DASH diet in the primary prevention of CVD among healthy subjects, " writes Teresa T. Fung, ScD, of Simmons College, Boston. [go read Esselstyn and/or Ornish... Essy's got 20 years of peer-review research on the topic] ..... the diet comprises plenty of fruits, vegetables, and plant proteins from legumes and nuts, and moderate servings of low-fat dairy products. It is low in meat... Restricting salt while on the diet provides an even greater blood pressure reduction... " A good read. They'd get even better results cutting out the dairy, meat, and reducing the fat further... oh well, a step at a time. 2) Howard's latest DVD: " Mad Cowboy Lecture: 2007 " is out and I've posted the 1st 6 minutes as two small trailers at: http://www.soulveggie.com Best to all (and glad Suz survived her near " Wizard of Oz " experience), Mark
