Guest guest
I find that the local health food shop is quite good for vegan chocolate type sweets. The only other sweets I can think of that are vegan are Starburst, Polos and Fox's Glacier Mints. Guest guest
hi, tabitha-- that is awesome that you've decided to go veg-- your body and the animals will thank you for it. i went veg gradually since i was about 5. first i realized the lobsters in the tank were the ones on my plate, and so i quit eating anything that resembled a lobster. when in was in the 8th grade, i saw a slaughterhouse, and quit red meat and pork and struggled with chicken for a long time. one day, i realized i'd gone 2 months without eating chicken and hadn't even been trying, so got rid of that. then i met some vegans and did some research about that, and realized that if i wanted to really live as cruelty-free as possible, veganism was the way to go for me. so i quit any remaining fish, dairy, eggs, and honey, and stopped buying wool, silk, and leather. over 6 years later, i've never felt better! i definitely recommend reading up on nutrition if you're going to do this; a lot of people go about it the wrong way and end up getting sick and blaming vegetarianism. being veg is actually one of the healthiest ways to eat out there, as long as it's done right. check " vegetarianism for dummies. " i also have some articles i wrote about vegan nutrition on my website, www.flawlessfitness.com, so you can check those out, too, if you want. vegweb.com has tons of amazing vegan recipes, and it's growing all the time; i definitely recommend checking that site out. and, of course, if you have questions, throw them out there. i don't get to post to this group as much as i'd like, but if i'm around and can help you out, i definitely will. good luck!!! melody http://www.flawlessfitness.com http://www.melodysmusic.net ************************************** AOL now offers free email to everyone. Guest guest
Hi Tabitha, I'm new to vegetarianism also. And like you, I also have a lobster memory. I was about 10 years old (so many years ago!) and realized the lobster on MY plate was the same one that was alive on the kitchen counter less than half an hour before. I was horrified, but I didn't begin my vegatarian journey until just a few months ago. When I began eating more fruits and vegetables and un-processed foods, I felt better almost immediately. My system did have to adjust for about a week or two though and I became extremely ~uhm~ gassy :-). But that was all the healthy bacteria in my system going happy-crazy and coming back to life!! I still crave meat on occasion, but I compare it to quitting smoking, the cravings will eventually disappear. Welcome to the group!!
Guest guest
Hello everyone...I am a New Vegan...Are there any substitutions for SAUCES and SPICING things up for meals? Any input would be wonderful. I find myself eating the same things everyday, because I do know these things.. Thank you
