Guest guest
Hi Sierra, I have eaten a mostly raw diet over the last year and a half. It is amazing how different you feel. I teach people to add more raw into their diets. I don't tell people they have to go 100% because you will feel so good just adding more and more in. I wish you the best of health. Guest guest
For info on the raw vegan diet, I'd recommend going to the Hallelujah Acres website, www.hacres.com. They have lots of cookbooks for sale, as well as equipment, videos/DVD's, health info, and tons more to help you get or stay raw, or as raw as you like. I highly recommend them! Guest guest
Too funny, Sierra, I just spent the afternoon (some of it) reading about the raw food diet! I'm not ready to go there yet either, but I did order some books at the library. I'm figuring there might be some great recipes to add to the repertoire. Especially in the summer when hot food is such a bad idea. I don't have ac anymore. Share what you find that fabulous, please! While I wouldn't want to become a raw foodist, I have decided to integrate much more raw food into my diet. Salads have become less leafy and more chuncky--loaded with finely chopped veggies. I actually get a bit of a head rush from them! Almost went to a raw food restaurant today--40 minutes from here. Changed my mind because of the cold weather and went to a Thai place instead. Guest guest
Hi, I have been thinking about going on a raw food only diet for a while and I think I am ready to try it. In reading about it, I have read it is recommended to take B vitamins especially B12. My question is, does nutritional yeast fall into the category of raw foods or is it processed? Any raw food only people here? I'd love to hear from you and get ideas for recipes. Thanks! Gina
Guest guest
Hi Gina: Raw food? What do you mean raw food? Just eating raw vegetables everyday? Sounds interesting, but forgive me saying, doesn't that produce a lot of gas? (sorry, didn't mean to offend anyone). Sincerely, Mark Pyles Gypsy Gina <gypsygina Sent: Wednesday, December 12, 2007 7:25:32 AM Raw Food Diet Hi, I have been thinking about going on a raw food only diet for a while and I think I am ready to try it. Guest guest
I'm not 100%, but right up there. In fact, nutritional yeast is one of the foods that would " disqualify " me (and BEANS!). It's not raw as it's been pasteurized to stop the yeast growth. However, many raw foodists let this one slide, even calling it a " live " food. <shrug> I use it daily, but not for the B12, as it's not really in an assimilable form, so it's best not to rely on it for that purpose (good protein, etc., though). Hope this helps, -Erin http://www.zenpawn.com/vegblog - Gypsy Gina Wednesday, December 12, 2007 10:25 AM Raw Food Diet Hi, I have been thinking about going on a raw food only diet for a while and I think I am ready to try it. Guest guest
I'm working at it - thanks in a great part to Erin's example - but slowly, oh so slowly . I too have wondered about the B12, although I admit to taking supplements on occasion for that in addition to nutritional yeast to which I still have a crossed-finger approach. B12 would also be a problem for fruitarians of course - any of those around here? Best love, River Erin wrote: >I'm not 100%, but right up there.
