Guest guest
I don't know about Olive Oil being vegan, but the fact of the matter is, that all oil is not healthy, aside from the fact that fat is fat no matter what form it comes in it is still fat and any oil is 100% fat. The most important point is, as soon as the source of the oil base is set for processing the outer coating is stripped away from the plant and a process called oxidation begins instantly, similar to an apple turning brown within moments of it being sliced . Oxidation creates free radicals, this is the leading causes of many forms of cancer and is also a factor in rapid aging. If you need to use oil for cooking try water, vegetable broth or even wine, for pasta fresh made tomato sauce from fresh tomatoes blended with nice fresh herbs and spices, for salad dressing try lemon juice or the many different types of vinegars on the market, even some of the great dressing recipes found on web sites like low-fat vegan.com or drmcdougall.com. I am new to being vegan as well (I am absolutely vegetarian, and learning more about being vegan). Can someone please explain how olive oil isn't vegan? I know that white sugar isn't because it's filtered through bone char...Thanks for your help :)Amy"in ourfamily we DO use extra virgin olive oil for so many things. while thisis not vegan, olive oil is healthy and facillitating, especially ifyou are transitioning from butter and its' inherent whole milk/fatcontent. this became a staple over the years as my husbands' heritageis italian. i use organic olive oil, dark green first pressing if atall."
