Milleneum, last night

my friend and i took advantage of Milleneum's lowered fixed price menu, last night and once again i was completely blown away by chef Erick Tucker's creativity. Incredible flavors, textures, and colors on all the plates, exceptional service in a beautiful setting.  Truly an incredible dining experience! The restaurant was not filled up most of the time we were there which is a first for me as every time i have eaten in this establishment it has always been packed. It would truly be a shame if the bay area loses its finest vegan restaurant, especially since it has been open for upwards of 18 years, now!I highly encourage you to support them. At the same time you support this restaurant you are also supporting local organic farmers, tofu makers, etc. This restaurant is doing everything correct as far as i can tell. They are not pretending to be green or sustainable as many others are during the new green trend, they truly are green as their menus are strictly seasonal and local (with the exception of a few tropical ingredients, tea and some beligian beers and european wines on the menu).  Yes it is pricey but well worth it; not an every day dining place but definitely a place for a special evening and at these prices (38 dollars for 3 courses!!) it is now far more affordable than before. The black bean torte was sublime, silky textured bean puree, lightly spiced; the cornmeal-sesame crusted oyster mushrooms is always a favorite. The yuba rolls stuffed with seitan and rapini was the highlight for me. a really wonderful side dish of seared brussel sprouts with smoked tofu (so nice not to see a menu without  fake meats but simply  let smoked tofu (which was exquisitely prepared)  simply be smoked tofu rather than fake pork!). A thai curry with kabocha, lotus roots, fried tofu and more was really nice as well. And to finish it off, the pumpkin tiramisu had both of us smiling heavily along with a pumpkin latte (a first for me). This restaurant is truly world class and should be supported by the vegan and the foodie community!!!phil Philip Gelbvegetarian chefshakuhachi player, teacherphilhttp://philipgelb.comhttp://myspace.com/inthemoodforfoodhttp://myspace.com/philipgelbhttp://www.yelp.com/biz/in-the-mood-for-food-oakland
