Guest guest
What Tammy and Alex say is true! Handing out literature is totally easy. I stood in the center of the farmer's market from noon to 1pm and handed out 100 Vegetarian Starter Guides from Compassion Over Killing. You can't believe the high you get knowing you're saving lives.... when someone is really excited and even takes info for friends. Or thanks you and says "Yeah, I want to know how." Or when someone's horrified at the pictures and says " I didn't know." Like the woman who said "Hmm, this is going to be interesting - I'm a chef." You look at her face and know somehow, on some level, she's already changed. So I'll be giving out literature whenever I happen go to the Palo Alto and Menlo Park Farmers Markets. If anyone ever wants to join in, just email me! elizabethg1111 Elizabeth Guare Menlo Park

Elizabeth, thanks for sharing about your success! That's totally great! 100 people that didn't have the information now do. Do you think the outreach & TV ads about Prop 2 have made people more interested in this information? I know, it's the best feeling! One time I had this really crappy morning at work .. but I went out at lunch and did some leafleting and it really turned my whole day around. For those who haven't seen the literature, the Vegetarian Starter Guides from COK, PETA, etc., tell people the real truth about how meat, eggs, and dairy are produced, and then give them information on how to eat plant-based foods, complete with vegan recipes. I hope more people email you about joining the leafleting at Palo Alto or Menlo Park Farmer's markets .... For anyone in the SF area: Alex and I are planning to organize outreach to BART commuters later this month (now that we know how well it works!) and also in December. Here's Alex's previous post about that - http://www.bayareaveg.org/blog/2008/10/31/a-leafleting-this-past-wednesday/ Or -- if you're interested in leafleting in a different area and need help getting leaflets, let us know! Cheers, Tammy __ "This is my protest against the conduct of the world. To be a vegetarian is to disagree--to disagree with the course of things today. Starvation, world hunger, cruelty, waste, wars--we must make a statement against these things. Vegetarianism is my statement and I think it's a strong one." -- Isaac Bashevis Singer
