We called our team "Animals are Friends, not Food". The idea was to provide an opportunity for like-minded folks to meet, to encourage folks who are new to the Bay Area or just wanted to meetup and walk with a few others... As a bonus, many of the people who signed up for our team were new walkers. In less than 2 weeks of organizing, the wonderful volunteers in our group last year raised $1800 for Farm Sanctuary ... http://www.bayareaveg.org/blog/2007/10/21/1845-raised-for-farm-sanctuary/ Because this is already part of a larger event, there's not much organizing on our side that needs to be done -- registering our team, sending out a few emails, and organizing a meeting point at the beginning of the walk and taking some photographs is a bonus.
