Hi all,

There is a Peet's in Half Moon Bay (next to New Leaf Community Market). I've been in there twice and both times they have a ginger cookie labeled as vegan. I emailed Peet's to ask them to carry the scone & muffin carried at the other Peet's. I got a really nice response in the affirmative, and they obligingly sent me the ingredients for the cookies and scone. They said the Double Chocolate Vegan Muffin is a new item and they don't have the ingredient list yet.

In any case, I thought others may be interested in the ingredient list too. And one more thing - the Peets person who emailed me back said that "Each store chooses its baked goods from an approved list." So if your Peets doesn't carry these and you would like them to, try asking if these items are on their approved list.

Vegan Chocolate Chip cookie: bleached white flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, soy margarine, canola oil, soybean oil, molasses, baking soda, baking powder, salt, vanilla, vegan chocolate chips.

Vegan Oatmeal Raisin cookie: organic rolled oats, wheat flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, canola oil, soybean oil, soy margarine, unsulfured molasses, soy protein powder, coconut flakes, raisins, cinnamon, baking soda, baking powder, spices, salt.

Vegan Fat Free Apricot Oatmeal scone: unbleached flour, apricot puree, blackberries, corn syrup, oatmeal, brown sugar, currants, baking powder, baking soda, salt

Vegan Ginger cookie: bleached white flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, molasses, canola oil, soybean oil, ginger, baking powder, baking soda, spices, salt.

While there is no honey in these items, I didn't ask Peet's if they knew whether the sugar source is cane sugar refined through bone char. For more information about the sugar refinement process, and sugars not refined via bone char, please see the below article.

"This is my protest against the conduct of the world. To be a vegetarian is to disagree--to disagree with the course of things today. Starvation, world hunger, cruelty, waste, wars--we must make a statement against these things. Vegetarianism is my statement and I think it's a strong one." -- Isaac Bashevis Singer
