Local Activists Receive Preliminary Injunction Against Stockton and Arena Manager IFG

The Honorable Judge Lawrence Karlton of the California Eastern District Federal Court, in Sacramento, issued his order granting local activists, Pat Cuviello and Deniz Bolbol, a preliminary injunction against the City of Stockton and the Stockton Arena Management, International Facilities Group (IFG), from interfering with Pat and Deniz's free speech and free press rights during the Ringling Bros. Circus performances September 18-21. Pat and Deniz were threatened with arrest in 2006 when they went onto arena property to hold signs and banners and to leaflet the patrons. The City of Stockton also blocked off a portion of a public street preventing Pat and Deniz from videotaping the animals being walked from the train to the arena. Pat and Deniz filed a lawsuit In Pro Se (as their own lawyers) against Stockton and IFG. Deniz is now represented by the lawfirm of Gonzalez and Leigh, L.L.P.
