Guest guest
Hi all New Leaf Community Market opened in Half Moon Bay in June. New Leaf is basically a natural foods chain like Whole Foods, but smaller, in that it has a couple of stores in the Santa Cruz area and now this one in HMB. Anyways, they have 2 areas where they sell prepared foods. One is a "hot salad bar" and the other is a chilled case with prepared foods (it's maybe 25% vegetarian and another 25% vegan). They also sell hot soups, and usually 1 or 2 of the 4 are vegan. Chris and I are there at the store a lot, and they're asking us for suggestions for vegan food items for the deli area. So, I thought I could leverage the collective opinions/insights of other veggie people for suggestions. Any ideas? Guest guest
Good Earth in Fairfax has a very fairly large vegan/veg hot and cold food bar. For the next 3 minutes I thought the food bar was totally vegetarian until I saw a small section of non-veg at the end (on a hot metal shelf). When I was there all their hot soups were vegan. overall for the past 4 years they've added a lot more vegan selections http://www.bayareaveg.org/ug/display.htm?id=234 You might not have to reinvent the wheel, someone's been perfecting and modifying the menu for the past 5 years. Since the food is high quality, expect to pay a bit more for it I think it's like $5 to $6 a lb. This is a ballpark figure, 60% vegan 30% veg 10% non-veg If you can make vegan food taste good, EVERYONE will buy it cause there's no dietary restrictions.... (I can't buy a lot of Amy's Organics new products cause they contain cheese. I " ve already wrote to them, .....about that....pls also tell them how you feel too..) oh yea, they got vegan pizza, which they are sort of famous for.... I just have a feeling it might be as good as Fellini's and other " pizza joints " sign, winnie, I was there last month , " Tammy, BAVeg " <t wrote: > > Hi all > > New Leaf Community Market opened in Half Moon Bay in June.
