Dear Rob,

The California State Legislature recently passed two bills that, if signed into law, will be damaging to animal protection efforts.

AB 2427 would prevent local governments from passing animal welfare laws specific to their communities. If it becomes law, this bill will hurt future protection efforts and overturn West Hollywood's current ordinance banning veterinarians from cruelly declawing cats. Please take action to urge Gov. Schwarzenegger to veto AB 2427.

AB 815 will give the California Department of Fish and Game full authority to adopt laws or regulations regarding fish and "game" (that's how they view land animals!) in California. AB 815 will negatively impact the ability of local governments to protect their citizens, companion animals, and wildlife. Please take action to urge Gov. Schwarzenegger to veto AB 815.

Please ask the governor not to sign these bills into law. Take a moment to fill out each form to send automated e-mails to Gov. Schwarzenegger requesting that he veto both AB 2427 and AB 815.

Remind Gov. Schwarzenegger that anyone who abuses an animal should go to jail and that all animals deserve to be protected.
