Guest guest
Hi all, A not for profit foundation who works to " find loving families to host foreign exchange students for the academic year " contacted BAVeg. They " have one girl, Lea from Germany that is a strict Vegetarian. As many families do not follow the vegetarian life style, it has been difficult to find a perfect fit for her. " So if you're interested, or think you know someone who might be, details are below. Please contact Susan Grantano ( susan ) directly, as I don't know anything more about this, I just wanted to reach out to the veg community to possibly help another veg. Thanks Tammy Susan Grantano [susan] Friday, August 15, 2008 12:18 AM 'Tammy, BAVeg' RE: Vegetarian Exchange Student / Other/General Question Importance: High Hi Tammy, Thank you so much for getting back to me. Any help would be appreciated. Please feel free to forward the email and my contact information to the regional list. Hopefully someone will be able to help. Yes we are still searching for a vegetarian home for Lea. Also, she is allergic to cats. She is coming for a full school year program (Aug to June). All we ask of a host family is a warm welcome, a bed to sleep in (yes they can share a bedroom with a child of the same sex) and in-home meals. The students bring their own money for everything else. We need to make our final placements in the next week so that the students can make it to the US before school starts. Some schools start as early as next week. A bit about Lea.... Lea is 16 years old and in the 11th grade. She has studied English for 8 years. She really enjoys dancing, traveling and watching movies; she is an active, spontaneous, and determined young lady. She has been a member of a dance group for the past 2 years and has received Province Master 2007. Lea also works at a care club in her local community elementary school. She has been part of exchange programs in France and Poland, and is anxious to come to the U.S. and learn more about the American culture and experience another country's school system. Her personality is described as: open-minded, team player, spontaneous, determined, optimistic, active, independent, and helpful. She speaks German, French and English. Her teachers comments are: " Lea is a hardworking student, keeps on learning new things and improving her basic knowledge in all studied school subjects. She is also engaged in helping other students, being always ready to offer them her help when needed. " To learn more out our program, visit www.facetheworld.org. Please don't hesitate to call with any questions. I am happy to share everything about our program.
