vegan food at weddings

I was at a large Greek wedding in San Francisco on Saturday. There were six courses with a large number of vegan choices: the appetizers included dolmas (rice wrapped in grape leaves) and fresh grapes, a salad fruit and vegetables and nuts in it, the main course was a choice of vegan or meat dish (predetermined by a response to an RSVP card--mine was shish kabob with veggies and tofu), the wedding cake (vegetarian, but not vegan), and wedding cake (not veg*n, but vegetarians could indulge), and finally the desert: baklava (vegetarian) and a variety of fresh fruit (vegan). There were 100 people present and the bride and groom are not vegans - they're just veg*n friendly.

I recommend that if you are invited to a wedding that you ask the bride about vegan food well in advance of the wedding so that if the bride wants to accomodate you, or for that matter, offer vegan or vegetarian choices to the entire guest list, the caterer can get proper notice.

I was at a wedding party, there were

200 meat entrees

75 fish (sea bass)

ONLY 13 vegetarian dishes

The Busy caterer said the above numbers are the norm.

I was very sad to hear that.

Hmm, I was hoping I'll see more vegetarian dishes, since it's proven to be healther....and now people are understanding the eco.. side...

the famous nutritionist says, to "eat more fruits and veggies"

it would be great to have prominent folks like her to say

"meat and dairy is bad for you"

I just told a YOUNG colon cancer patient that meat has no fiber. A lot of folks are not aware of that.
