Bay Area Vegetarians' Food For Thought Book Club meets to discuss nonfiction books on the topics of vegetarianism, animal rights, and nutrition. Everyone is welcome to join us (both veg & non-veg), and we especially encouraging aspiring and new veg*ns to join us.

We are a supportive, low-key, and friendly group. FYI, in consideration of others, including our animal friends, all food and drink consumed during book discussions are vegan. There is also a separate book club, "Vegan Book Club", that discusses fiction books.

Our next selection is Specious Science: How Genetics and Evolution Reveal Why Medical Research on Animals Harms Humans by C. Ray Greek, MD and Jean Swingle Greek, DVM

Google Books description: "Arguing that there is a great divide between species that makes extrapolation of biochemical research from one group to another utterly invalid, this book provides the argument's scientific underpinning in accessible language, examining pediatrics, brain diseases, new surgical techniques and more."
