I

wanted to thank Sara for organizing the event and encourage folks to help her

out!

Kristie, Kelle and I spent our Wednesday

lunch hour leafleting at the downtown Oakland Earth Day fair. Sorry I didn’t post it, it was very

last minute. We had an amazing reception

and handed out over 300 fliers in less than one hour. If you haven’t tried leafleting or

tabling, please consider doing so! Sara’s

putting together a great event and it would be a nice way to “test the

waters.” I really can’t

tell you how great it feels to see people sitting and reading a Veggie Starter

Kit, knowing you just changed their life forever and you just played an active

role in changing the world for animals.

Tammy is also organizing awesome monthly

leafletings that are fun, quick, and delicious. We eat the fliers we don’t hand

out. Actually that’s just me,

because I can’t stand to admit I’ve given out less fliers than

Tammy and Miranda. The delicious part

happens at the team lunch we have afterwards to celebrate.

The world is getting more veg-friendly

every day. That’s not

happening because of people who sit around and talk about helping. It’s happening because of awesome

people like Chris and Tammy of BAV, Sara doing Earth Day, Andrew and his

monthly KFC protests, etc. All these

folks have full-time jobs but they’ve made getting involved a

priority. So come on out this

weekend! Help animals, help the environment,

help the humans forced to work in slaughterhouses, and last but not least, do

it to support and appreciate the excellent Bay Area Vegetarian volunteers!

Thanks Sara! If you see a 6 foot tall chicken handing

out Veg Starter Kits tomorrow, don’t be frightened. It’s really just Mark M. wearing a

costume, honest.

Fw: Earth Day

Berkeley Sat. 4/19 - seeking one mroe volunteer

Hi all - we have some great volunteers for Berkeley

Earth Day tomorrow, and I'm excited about tabling for Bay Area

Vegetarians. I am looking for one more volunteer for the 3-6 shift - is

anyone available? If someone could assist for even part of

that time, that would be helpful.

Thanks and happy Earth Day,

Sara

Hi all,

Berkeley Earth Day is scheduled for Saturday, April 19 from

12-5 in Civic Center

Park (near downtown Berkeley BART).

Bay Area Vegetarians will be hosting a table, where we'll be giving out

literature and talking with folks who stop by. I'm looking for volunteers

to help for the following shifts:

10-12: booth and literature setup (2 volunteers)

12-3: tabling (2-3 volunteers)

3-6: tabling and take-down (2-3 volunteers)

Over 150 booths anticipated. Cultural performers will include

Kotoja (West African Highlife) and Vission Latina (salsa). Dance performances

by Company C, Contemporary Ballet, NATyA (Classical Indian Dance) and more.

Festivities will include a climbing wall, Big Tadoo Puppet Crew, Berkeley

Farmer's Market Family Fun Day, vegetarian food, craft, and community booths.
