Guest guest
Dear Everyone, Hi. I am giving away my 1986 Chevrolet Nova (actually a Toyota Corolla made by Chevy and Toyota to get around import restrictions). I am the original and *only* owner and the car has only about 130,000 miles on it. Though the " blue book " value is very low, the car is a very good " around town " car and it has *no mechanical problems*. In 2000, it had a new carborator put in and has had the timing belt replaced twice. I am considering giving it to a group that helps animals, but they said they'll sell it at auction and will not get what it's worth because it's a bit of an anomaly (one owner, all service records, no problems won't be mentioned at auction. Due to the age of the car, it will be sold for it's parts). I am therefore interested in giving the car to someone who is very devoted to helping animals and who needs a car. The person would have to pick up the car in the East Bay. Please email me if you are interested and can demonstrate that the car will be used to help animals. Best regards, Stephanie

If you haven't found a home for your car yet, I would like to suggest a twist on the alternative you already mentioned (donating the car to the charitable organization) Sell the car yourself, and then donate the proceeds to the group you originally wanted to donate the car too. This will maximize the amount donated to the charity and also it's less work for them to accept cash than processing the car (which is probably why they have the auction arrangement, because they're not setup to really do car sales and get maximum profit themselves). Plus -- if your employer offers matching donations (as some do), you could double the amount of your donation! Thanks for supporting those who help animals.Cheers,Tammy
