Guest guest
Cupcake Party: http://www.evite.com/app/publicUrl/STQSGWKDWNZDHCAQNVZB/teamvegan08 Several people have written to ask me about donating to Team Vegan. You can donate online now, or at the party tomorrow. You can donate to one specific runner (go to “View Fundraising Pages” at the top of the page and check out their individual pages) or you can donate to Team Vegan in general. Either way several things will happen: Your donation will be doubled by a completely awesome, selfless, heart-of-gold animal rights donor in Canada. You will experience something like “runner’s high” without having to leave your chair: A recent study from the University of Oregon said, " Knowing your money is going to a good cause can activate some of the same pleasure centers in your brain as food and sex. " Society will take one big step closer to becoming a vegetarian society. When you donate to Vegan Outreach they print more leaflets. VO leafleters give the leaflets to more young people. More young people become vegetarian (many as soon as they read a Why Vegan?, Even If You Like Meat or Compassionate Choices). Demand for veg food increases while demand for meat decreases. Your donation is a direct path to less animals being bred, raised in agony and killed violently for food. You can donate online at any time, or by credit card at the party (thank you!!). If you bring a check to the party (thank you!!), please write it out to Vegan Outreach. And the most important rule: If you donate, you must allow us to smother you with gratitude. The biggest hurdle the animal rights movement has is lack of funding. Lots and lots of people give lots and lots of money to the arts, human health, and even the environment is now catching up. But vegetarianism is still way at the bottom. If animal groups had budgets the size of zoos, symphonies, major research hospitals and big city museums, can you imagine how many more vegetarians there would be in the world?? We would see veg TV ads, veg billboards, an army of veg leafleters all over the world, farm animal sanctuaries in every state instead of just 10 or so in all of North America. Thank you for asking about donating and thanks, as always, for being such a great support system! Bay Area Vegetarians is the best thing going (thanks Chris and Tammy!). When you check out the runners, please know that they’ve all been running as hard as they can for the past 12 weeks AND fundraising at the same time. Any boost you give a runner, or the team as a whole, will be very much appreciated. The race is next week so we’re down to the deadline for training and fundraising (and sore muscles and blisters)! See you at the party tomorrow and thanks for your fabulous philanthropy and moral support.
