Animal Place, a sanctuary for farmed animals, in Vacaville is trying

to place one goat and around 22 hens and five roosters. See below for

more information.

Little Goat: At around 150 lbs, he isn't exactly little, but this

Toggenburg goat needs a new home. He is neutered and 2.5 years old,

and he does have horns. His owners threatened to shoot him because of

his leaping abilities. Because we took the threat seriously, we agreed

to take Little Goat and place him. When we first met him at a rest

stop, he was chained in the bed of a pickup truck! Little Goat is shy,

but he's VERY food motivated and would probably warm up quickly to

friendly overtures with food. If you know of anyone interested in

adopting him, please have them contact Marji at marji

or 707-499-4814. An ideal home would be one with other goats and tall

fencing. Prospective adopters must fill out a questionairre, be within

driving distance and be comfortable with a possible home inspection.

Photos are available upon request.

Calvin, Nettie and Company: Wow, it's been seven months since we

rescued 130 hens and chicks from a rooster fighting site in

Sacramento! The chicks are now adults, have a clean bill of health and

are looking for some new digs! There are about 22 hens and five

roosters. We really, really want to find super awesome home for the

roosters, even though we know how hard they can be to place. The

roosters are not aggressive to each other or people and we always

catch them snuggling with one another on the perches. Ideally, we'd

love to adopt out 3-6 hens with a rooster. But we are more than happy

to adopt to homes who only want hens. The hens are laying about an egg

every other day but during their peak egg-laying season, they'll lay

about an egg a day. If you know of anyone interested, please have them

contact Marji at marji or 707-449-4814. Prospective

adopters must fill out a questionnaire, have predator proofed

enclosures, and be within driving distance. Photos are available upon

request.
