Guest guest
Wow! I had quite the opposite experience at Ubuntu. The food was fantastic - complex, interesting and delicious, the service excellent, the prices very reasonable for fine dining. It is a vegetarian restaurant with many vegan options and the staff was extremely accommodating. I highly recommend Ubuntu. warren**************Create a Home Theater Like the Pros. Guest guest
My review of Ubuntu after dining there was far different, and Ubuntu's philosophy, frequently stated in interviews with the owners, is "don't call us a vegetarian restaurant." They want to disassociate themselves from vegetarian and vegan dining. I found their food subpar, overpriced, not creative, and not fresh. My prediction? Closed within a year. Guest guest
Warren,I'm with you. I happened to have lunch their today, with my non-veg*n parents. We were all very pleased with the service and with the food, and I had no problem getting an excellent vegan meal from the items which are naturally vegan (they can make many of the vegetarian items vegan too). For the quality of the ingredients and the inventiveness of the menu the prices are reasonable. It's so funny that we got that negative comment from Bob earlier, because I was also explaining to my parents over lunch that every restaurant will attract a few overly negative reviews online but that overall the internet is a great source of restaurant reviews. I shall forward that earlier email as exhibit #1 to my parents, who would like to go back before long. ;)Greg -------------- Original message from wgjii: -------------- Wow! Guest guest
> overall the internet is a great source of restaurant reviews I think posting reviews/opinions to SFBAVEG are great, as I enjoy reading them, as I'm sure many others do, too. Doing a public review, like in the Ultimate Guide, is far more likely, however, to be influential in the long-run. So far Ubuntu has a 2.75 rating based on 2 reviews in UG. http://www.bayareaveg.org/ug/display.htm?id=809 Maybe more of its fans could rate it ? Cheers, Tammy __ "This is my protest against the conduct of the world. To be a vegetarian is to disagree--to disagree with the course of things today. Starvation, world hunger, cruelty, waste, wars--we must make a statement against these things. Vegetarianism is my statement and I think it's a strong one." -- Isaac Bashevis Singer http://bayareaveg.org http://www.vegcooking.com/
