Guest guest
A questioned was asked whether the artist, Adel Abdessemed, killed the animals himself. He did not - he visited a farm in Mexico and videotaped the slaughter. I think the difference between this display of death and that of video footage collected by an ar group is the message - what is Adel trying to say? What is his point? Art is many things and self-interpretation is one of those things. Perhaps people will see the exhibit and be morally outraged, perhaps they will consider the impact their dietary choices have on the animals. Perhaps not. Without Adel to explain his rationale, it's left to the observer to decide if this is "art". The impression I have is that it is nothing more than an attempt to be "edgy" for the sake of being "edgy", to push the limits of "art" for the sake of pushing those limits. And, to me, that's not the true purpose of art. --------------Marji BeachProgram CoordinatorAnimal Place3448 Laguna Creek TrailVacaville, CA 95688707-449-4814www.animalplace.orgwww.myspace.com/animalplace
