Hi all

For those who enjoy the vegan cheeses, Sunergia (which I keep wanting to spell Sungeria) has introduced a new vegan cheeze. Even the little health food store in Pacifica has it so they have a good distribution. I've also heard it's at Mollie Stone's in ... San Bruno or SF (not sure)

Here's the link .. check it out!

For folks who are new to the list, sadly dairy cheese is made with cow's milk as well as rennet (lining from calves' stomachs). Soy cheeses are becoming more available, yet most of them are not vegan because they have casein (a dairy protein, which has been strongly linked to cancer -- read The China Study T. Colin Campbell). However, the world of vegan cheeses continues to expand and there are a growing number now available.

So now, as far as I know, there are 3 vegan cheeses that are being sold locally (I am not counting the "parmesan" or "singles")

Follow Your Heart (the most common, made in Southern California) - http://www.followyourheart.com/ - most natural food stores carry it

Sheese (made in Scotland - http://www.buteisland.com/ - Real Foods in SF has it (call to check)

Cheezly (made in Scotland) - http://www.redwoodfoods.es/cheezly.php - I don't think anyone is selling it locally

Sunergia - http://www.sunergiasoyfoods.com - Mollie Stone's, natural food stores

If anyone has tried all four, would love to hear your review. I've tried the first three, and Sheese is my favorite but it's hard to get so I use FYH whenever I want vegan cheese (usually only for pizzas). And, Amy's has introduced a pizza with the vegan FYH cheese.

Cheers

Tammy
