Guest guest
Until this week, Hawthorne lived crammed in a tiny wire cage packed with other rabbits waiting to sold for meat. His white coat is stained with urine and his white fur is yellow, very rough and patchy from having large clumps of matted fur cut off his face and back. Because of his gentle spirit, Hawthorne the bunny is named in honor of Mark Hawthorne, activist and author of "Striking At the Roots: A Practical Guide To Animal Activism." We are seeking a foster home for Hawthorne for two to three months. This tender-hearted, neglected and likely abused rabbit craves love and attention. He really wants to connect. He is sweet, inquisitive, and endearingly goofy with large expressive ears and big, furry feet. He's close to 8 pounds, yet despite his large size he just beginning to build a sense of confidence that he is now safe. When we approach him by lowering our head and averting our eyes, he cautiously approaches and then closes his eyes to be petted on his forehead. He also loves to be sung to and talked with. It is very touching. Hawthorne still needs to be neutered and this will be covered by SaveABunny, though transport help is needed in addition to fostering. This precious little being is so handsome.
