Guest guest
A SACRED DUTY: Applying Jewish Values To Help Heal the World A new documentary film being shown at: Or Shalom Jewish Community (www.orshalomsf.org) 1250 Quintara @ 22nd, SF Sunday, Feb. 10th 4 PM film 5 PM discussion $3-5 suggested donation (there may be light veg refreshments) Please join us for a provocative event as we watch and discuss a powerful documentary film. All are welcome. This one-hour film, produced by Jewish Vegetarians of North America (www.JewishVeg.com), is a major documentary about the ethics of our relationship to our natural world and why it is imperative that we respond quickly to help shift our imperiled planet to a sustainable path. While focused on Judaism, the film is not exclusively for Jews, as it appeals to people of all religions as well as to environmentalists, vegetarians, and other concerned people. The film presents an argument, on both scientific and Jewish bases, for conscious lifestyle choices, including vegetarianism. The film features interviews with rabbis from all major denominations, environmentalists, activists, and others in the US and Israel and is narrated by award-winning Lionel Friedberg and Theodore Bikel. I helped edit the script and can answer questions as well as facilitate discussion. Please be advised that the film includes some disturbing footage of animal cruelty and it represents the views of JVNA and not necessarily those of Or Shalom. There will be free related literature to take home for those who are interested.
