Guest guest
Hi, you are all welcome to attend this free event. Book Release Party on February 10th at the Hillside Club in Berkeley to celebrate the publication of Nature Ethics an Ecofeminist Perspective. In this book I examine the influence of gender on environmental thought, critiquing an orientation which seeks to save the “Wolf” by killing wolves. I offer a reminder that nature ethics must include empathy and care for individual animals as well as concern for larger wholes like “species,” “the ecosystem” or the “land.” I also have a substantial discussion of veganism as a means of protesting against patriarchal forms of domination and control. Location and Time: 2286 Cedar, from 2-5pm, book reading at 3 pm. Vegan hors d’oeuvres. Please RSVP by February 6rd , 510-236-6057, marti. “Nature Ethics is a ground-breaking contribution to the literature and a must read for anyone concerned with the links between environmental ethics, animal liberation and feminist critique of male cultural bias.” —Rosemary Radford Ruether, author of Gaia and God. “I would buy this book for the section on ‘Vegan Practice’ alone. Hats off to Marti Kheel and this wonderful book!” —Jeffrey Moussaieff Masson, author of The Pig who Sang to the Moon. I hope you can make it!
